The worst is when I give a little boy a pink spoon (or he even ASKS for a pink spoon!) and his mom and dad glare at me as if I’m Satan himself trying to corrupt their kid with a fucking colored disposable spoon.

You’ll need the subtitled file for this if you don’t speak French, but this was quite a cute movie and really showed what it’s like to be trapped in the wrong body as a child quite well (or at least I think so). :)
I mention this film now and then because it’s one of my favorites, and for so many reasons - I really don’t think you will ever find a more gentle and more loving portrayal of trans people or queer children.
Nevermind the MPAA’s infamously transphobic R rating, this is absolutely a children’s film, which is why a trans child (an AMAB girl named Ludovic) is the protagonist. At worst, there’s some strongly implied queerphobia from other families (graffiti saying that Ludovic is a “bender”), some language in the subtitles that weirdly seems to be there to justify the R rating (one “shit” and one “fuck”), and some mild family conflict at the end. Nothing that should really justify anything harsher than a PG.
Like Wandering Son, which it’s actually even gentler than, it’s an exploration of gender identity through the lens of childhood - and it’s sweet and adorable and positive when too many stories about the queer experience are tragic or cruel.
I watched it through Netflix’s DVD service but you can also get it on Amazon or Amazon VOD for $10. I’d really recommend it.
This motherfucker was walking around Comic-Con in a hyper-realistic Walter White/Bryan Cranston mask
guess who was underneath this Bryan Cranston mask
fucking Bryan Cranston.
Aaron Paul’s face is like a million different cries for help all molded into one expression
if the mere discursive construction of two opposing sides is enough to make you assume that both have a measure of validity and that taking one of those sides is wrong, i dont even know what to say beyond “you should not be making decisions about anything influenced by politics, i.e. everything”
OH MY GOD JEFF YOU WERE DOING SO WELL UNTIL THE “PERHAPS THE ANSWER IS IN THE MIDDLE” SHIT
of GB, offhand, the major “fucked up game shit” responses seem to be:
alex: finally exploded with hate for the shit people in the gaming community and all the shit things they do and endorse. took me by surprise completely
patrick: still wolf blitzer mk 2. denounces awful things but desperately…
thanks jeff, glad after all that time you came out with “have you considered that both sides are bad”
let me drive my van into your heeaaart
